I was in my bed when I heard a tapping noise on my window. I ignored thinking it was maybe tree branches rubbing against it. Then I heard again, like it was a pattern, every 2 minutes. I pulled the covers off me and walked slowly to my window. Once I got to it, I took a deep breath, counted down from three, and lifted the blinds. Nothing was there, except the dark sky. I have forgotten that there was no trees by it. I pondered in my head what was the noise. Then I ran to my bed and tried to go to sleep, but the tapping wouldn't stop. It has seemed it gotten louder every time. At the time, there was a feeling like lightning hit the back of me, sending a chill down my spin. I got up and looked at my twin sister, Alex, at the top of the bunk bed, sound asleep. How could she not hear it? I tried to ignore the tapping by closing my eyes, but every few seconds, there was something making them open. I finally fell asleep around 4 A.M.
I woke up, and I forgot all about the tapping noise. I looked up to see if my sister was still sleeping, then my eyes wandered toward the alarm clock, 11:04 A.M. I was always the first one to wake up, but my sister beat me to it. I went downstairs where my sister would be watching television, she wasn't there. That's when the tapping noise started coming back. I didn't know if I was imagining it, or it was happening for real. I called Alex's name, no response. I tried again, still no response. I walked towards the answering machine to see if she went somewhere and left a message, there was one. I was relieved with happiness. I pressed the button and listened. It was Mom letting me know that she will be coming home late and that Dad will be coming home a little bit early. Then I was wondering if I should go to the neighbors or just call Dad or Mom. I picked up the phone and dialed 596-7397, my dad. He didn't answer. I tried once more, no answer, just the answering machine. I called my mom, 596-2847. She didn't answer either. At that point, I felt like there was no need to call again. I just ran outside bare feet and with my pajamas on. I just didn't care.
I ran to my neighbor's house, Roger and Ruth, the nicest people on the block. Without ringing the doorbell or knocking, I went for the door knob and twisted it. It was locked. I rang the doorbell many times. I ran to my other neighbor's house, Eric and Judy, they are always home doing housework or something. I rang the doorbell this time. No one answered, strange. Their car is in the driveway, they only have one car. How could they not be home?
A car pulled up in my driveway, it was one of those older looking vans, like the 'Mystery Van', a car I don't know. My front door was unlocked. I thought quick and hid behind a bush. There was a guy with a tattoos all over his body, who didn't look like a good guy. He walked toward the front door, that's when I was frightened like heck. I searched for my cell phone, but it wasn't with me. I couldn't let him go in. I had to do something. I stood up from behind the bush.
"HEY!" I screamed.
He glared at me for a while, then went into the house. I guess he didn't care about me. I ran, I was about 6 feet away from the door.
"HEY! GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!" I screamed even louder, on the top of my lungs. I wasn't really thinking.
Now I got his attention. He looked at me and we stared at each other. He walked slowly towards me. I had no idea what to do, I could take a run for it then he could probably run after me or pull his gun out or I could walk backwards slowly and see if I could think of anything else. I had no choice, I ran for it.
I kept on looking back, he didn't do anything until I looked back again. There he was, in his van driving towards me. I didn't know what to do. I ran as fast as I could, but still I know he would catch up to me. I tried cutting through my neighbors' yards, but he would drive into them. I would try to go through a small area, but he would drive between the cracks. There was no use.
He finally caught up to me in his car, then he started to run after me and picked me up. He carried me to his vehicle and ordered me to stay while he opened the trunk. He picked me up and then hurled me into the trunk, he tied my feet together and tied my hands behind my back.
I couldn't think. I was too petrified to think. I felt frozen. My eyes couldn't stop looking to the left, then to the right, then up, then down. Everything, my arms, my legs felt num. My stomach felt as tight as a knot my dad would pull.
